Stories of an Ending World is an upper-paleolithic inspired fantasy and slice-of-life/character-driven webcomic made by yours truly, Lórienn. The story follows Shi’sukk and Torga (the two protagonists)’s relationship and deals with themes such as death, grief and love.
The comic has been initially inspired by works such as the Earth’s Children book series (despite me being very critical of it), the anime Frieren and (strangely enough) the mangas Berserk and Vinland Saga..? I’ve also poured into it my interest for the upper-paleolithic (of course) and my deep love for wildlife.
The comic will be dealing with heavy topics time to time, so Trigger Warning for: blood, animal death, sexual violence (nothing graphic will be shown), patriarchal violence, domestic abuse, mental health struggles, death and grief.
PSA on historical accuracy (and even accuracy in general) in the comic: this comic is set in a fantasy world and doesn’t aim at a perfectly accurate representation of the upper-paleolithic. Please, if you’re looking for actual documentation on this era, consider looking up scientific sources. Although the comic may be representing a form of “realism” in the material life of the characters, all uses of archeological information stem from my own personal interest in the period and is in no way, shape or form an attempt to be a scientific source. At the end of the day, the paleolithic setting serves as a scenery in which modern issues are being discussed.
The same thing can be said about any information given on herbal medicine, hunting techniques and pretty much everything that could seem “real” in the comic (please please please never try stuff you see in the comic at home).
The comic uses Blamblot‘s Anime Ace font. Thank you to Nate Piekos for allowing a free of charge use of his fonts for indie comic creators.
